Ceremonias en Guatemaya

5 Nights in Tecpán + 5 Nights at Lago Atitlán
A healing immersion into Maya wisdom, sacred lands, and personal transformation

Something magical happens when we visit Maya lands with an open heart—when we listen to the earth, sit with wisdom keepers, and allow ceremony to soften what no longer serves us. In these moments, we remember who we are and where we come from.

Shaela Noella’s intention is to create a sacred bridge between ancient Maya traditions and your modern-day path & comforts of living —offering experiences that are both educational, and spirit awakening. With deep reverence for the lineages she has learned from, she invites you to come not as a tourist, but as a listener, learner, and spiritual pilgrim.

So when you return home, you carry not only memories, but practices. You return with blessings in your bones, tools for your personal or professional path, and a deeper trust in your voice, your body, and your medicine. This journey is not just a visit—it’s an initiation into self-remembrance through cultural immersion.

This Page is under Construction! Thank you for your patience!!)

  • Ancestral Healing Ceremony

Ancestral Lineage Cleansing offers a powerful opportunity to release inherited patterns, traumas, and limiting beliefs passed down through generations.

Led by Lucia Culum, with the support of her ancestors and the sacred fire; this sacred work supports the healing of family wounds, the clearing of energetic burdens, and the reclamation of personal power.

A transformative experience to brings oneself into alignment with their lineage, purpose, and path forward.

  • Fire Ceremonies

Working with the element of fire and the beautiful offerings led by the variety of medicine women we have supporting us.

The fire serves as a powerful symbol of transformation, allowing you to release what no longer serves you and ignite the powerful manifestations of your desires.

  • Cacao Ceremony

Nana Mimi has 8 generations working with Cacao, it is our joy she will be leading us in Cacao Ceremony. Shaela will support with Song .

Immerse yourself in the ancient tradition of Cacao and Fire Ceremonies. With the rich, heart-opening properties of cacao, that fosters connection, love, and intention.

Every Cacao ceremony is different that Mimi leads, but the power of her ancestors working with are are profound, and Shaela will likely assist with songs.

  • Maya Abdominal Massage

Maya culture places a profound emphasis on the sacred nature of the womb, and centering it. Womb healers specialize in balancing and nurturing the feminine energy, offering a range of practices. Shaela knows a handful of amazing practitioners, she’s excited to connect us with some of them so we can experience their work and energy.

  • Huesaria

Bone Healing is a Maya Practice still used today. These practitioners are steeped in the ancient art of bone-setting and alignment of tendons. The healer Shaela has worked with in the past has a very natural mystic modality that I hope she can share a little bit about with us, and then can be available for private sessions.

  • AumRack

Aumrack is a beautiful guatemalan elder that has traveled the world and speaks many languages. She does wonderful Maya Calendar Oracle readings, Breathwork and so much more. We are looking forward to what magic she will share with us

Tobacco is a sacred plant used in many indigenous traditions—not for inhalation, but as a spiritual tool to connect with the Creator and cleanse the energy field. In these ceremonies, Tobacco may be offered through prayer, song, or breath to clarify intentions, seek guidance, or call in blessings. Many of the Nanas (wisdom keepers) work with Tobacco to open pathways for healing, insight, and protection.

  • Opening in Song

Shaela Noella will guide us in song, and opening up our voices with a more somatic intuitive approach.

For all levels of singers or non-singers to deepen their connection to the power of their voice connected to their body and ceremony.

We will go on two excursions :

Maya Ruins : Iximche

The Ruins are very close to our Tecpan retreat location.

Experience the awe of the Tecpan Maya Ruins, where history whispers through the stones. You will explore these sacred sites, learning about their significance in Maya culture. This excursion offers a profound connection to the past, allowing you to reflect on the resilience and strength of Indigenous traditions.

Weavers in San Juan

When we are staying at Lake Atitlan in San Marcos De Laguna, we will take a boat across the lake to San Juan de Laguna to visit some amazing local weavers. You can find weavers all over Guatemala as their skill set to make cloth is incredible, and the collective we are visiting in San juan has a special display and explanations of the full process.

FAQs

  • Yes. Your passport must be valid for six months after your departure date.

  • Yes. Enrich Your Alma requires travel insurance. We recommend World Nomads. It must be purchased before leaving your home country.

  • Here are three main options:

    1. Use Wi-Fi + WhatsApp: Free, reliable in most areas with internet, not the most dependable if you want service between places without wifi.

    2. Get a local SIM card: Costs $10–$20 for the SIM + $5–$10 for prepaid credit ("saldo"). Only get a prepaid plan, not a monthly one! Your phone must be unlocked.

    3. Add a travel plan through your current provider: Check for roaming fees before you go.

  • Guatemala City. Flights into Antigua are generally more expensive, but maybe worth the peek.

  • You’ll fly into La Aurora International Airport (Guatemala City), if you arrive in our allotted times we will provide a free shuttle or car transportation from the airport or Antigua. If not, there will be an extra cost to take a shuttle or private taxi to Tecpan, that we can support you booking.

  • With no traffic, about 1.5-2 hours to Tecpan. With traffic, it could be double.

  • There is WiFi but it is not always as reliable as in the US or Europe.

  • Shaela will create a WhatsApp group for updates, travel coordination, and announcements. Message her to be added.

  • ATMs or Banks often offer better exchange rates than airport cash currency exchanges. However, only use cards that do not charge high foreign transaction fees, and deny all conversion rates at the ATM. Accepting the ATM’s conversion rate you will lose money.

  • Yes! Let your bank know you’re traveling to avoid your card being blocked.

  • Some places in Guatemala and around the lake charge 3–5% extra for credit card use. Cash is the most economical and widely accepted.

  • Yes, inside the airport and at the café near the exit. Once you leave the airport building, the Wi-Fi stops working. Arrange communications before stepping outside.

  • Many locals are kind, and we have had wonderful experiences, but it’s best to be street smart as well:

    • Walk in pairs/groups in San Marcos

    • Use a money belt

    • Keep sentimental items at home

    • Always be aware of your bags and belongings

    • don’t walk places at night that you don’t see women and children walking in

  • We will provide filtered water at the retreat centers- be mindful not to drink water out of the tap unless you are certain it is purified. In general in 3rd world countries always drink filtered or bottled water.

    • Pack layers for cool nights and warm days (high-altitude climate).

    • Bring a swimsuit and light towel for temezcal or swimming.

    • Comfortable shoes and optional ceremonial clothing.

    • Money belt for cash and passport.Item description

    • Up to 50% refund for illness/weather/unforeseen events.

    • The non-refundable portion can be credited toward Shaela’s online offerings or sessions or future retreats.

    • If your spot is filled by another full-paying guest, up to 80% may be refunded depending on circumstances.

  • Basic health awareness is key: bring any personal medications, avoid lake water ingestion, eat clean food, and drink purified water. Consult with your doctor for any further inquiries.

  • Many people do, but pairing up in towns (especially at night) is best for safety. If unsure, travel with someone else from the group or coordinate via WhatsApp.
